Nippon Paint Lanka sponsored the 2022 Student Jamboree of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) held recently in Sooriyawewa.
The annual event conducted by the Board of Architectural Education (BAE) of the SLIA for the students of the four schools of architecture in Sri Lanka – the University of Moratuwa (UoM), the City School of Architecture (CSA), General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) – provided an opportunity for them to have a closer interaction before they join the profession as future architects.
Architect Russell Dandeniya ,the President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) said, “This is a unique event where 250 undergraduates in their 2nd and 3rd years of study from the four universities that provide architectural courses, came together to work with local communities and build two vernacular structures for the Community Market with technology.

The Sri Lankan pavilion at the International Green Week (IGW) 2023 was officially opened by Marie Antonia von Schönburg, Chief Delegate of Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka), in attendance of Thiloma Abayajeewa, Head of Chancery at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Germany and Suresh De Mel, Chairman of the Export Development Board.
AHK Sri Lanka organized the Sri Lankan pavilion with the purpose of showcasing and increasing awareness about the country’s agricultural and food products on a global scale. IGW is recognized as the world’s largest trade fair for food, agriculture, and gardening.
The 87th edition of IGW will take place at Messe Berlin from January 20-29. With over thousand four hundred exhibitors from sixty countries will display their authentic products and services and more than 400,000 visitors from 161 countries are expected to visit this international event. In addition, over 70 foreign ministers will attend the ten-day exhibition and over 300 international journalists from around 75 countries are accredited to cover the event.
