United Motors Lanka PLC, in accordance with Rule 8.1 of the Listing Rules of the Colombo Stock Exchange, has disclosed its acquisition of Dutch Lanka Trailer Manufacturers Limited (DLT).
The Share Sale and Purchase agreement, executed on today (17), entails United Motors Lanka PLC's purchase of 100% shareholding in DLT for a total consideration of Sri Lanka Rupees Seven Hundred Million (LKR 700,000,000).
DLT is a Board of Investment (BOI) registered company established in 1992, specializing in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of port and road trailers for domestic and export markets.
The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
Renowned for its commitment to cutting-edge technology and innovation, Emirates has launched a new strategy called ‘One Device' leveraging Apple products, whereby all 20,000 Emirates Cabin Crew receive iPhone 13 or iPad Air configured with custom Emirates apps to improve and streamline passenger service onboard, as well as enhancing the overall crew experience.
Emirates has already invested more than AED 32 million into the initiative and began giving out Apple devices one year ago. Today, more than 7,000 Emirates crew members use iPhone across 450 daily flights in the global network. In the coming months, an additional 5,000 cabin crew will receive iPhone and iPad featuring new apps and features that build on the successful deployment.
President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Asmâa Resmouki, who was in Sri Lanka on an invitation extended to her by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), held high-level discussions with a top Government Minister and Officials last week.
During her stay in Colombo, Resmouki, who heads the global organisation for the accounting profession, held discussions with State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe, as well as with Secretary to the Treasury, K. M. Mahinda Siriwardana, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe.
She was accompanied by the President of CA Sri Lanka, Sanjaya Bandara, Vice President Heshana Kuruppu, and acting Chief Executive Officer Lakmali Priyangika.
The meetings centred on critical matters pertaining to the financial and accounting landscape, with a focus on strengthening the profession and its role in driving economic resilience and sustainability in Sri Lanka.
Central Bank’s Deputy Governors K. M. A. N. Daulagala, T. M. J. Y. P. Fernando, and Senior Accountant Lasanthi Sirimanne also joined the meeting at the bank.
